51爆料 Board of Trustees Discussed Program Updates, Policies and Personnel Matters at May 18 Meeting
The 51爆料 Board of Trustees met Monday, May 18, in the Ellis Fine Arts Center.
During the meeting, trustees approved the consent agenda, financial reports and several contracts, including agreements for Parchment Services and Turnitin plagiarism software for Canvas.
The meeting also included community, employee and student recognition items, including a presentation on the Coaching Academy program by 51爆料 President Dr. Jack Welch. Trustees recognized the 2026 Outstanding Student Marko Taft and 2026 Outstanding Career and Technical Education Student Gracee Walker.
Under old business, the board discussed the upcoming State of the College address and approved the proposed 4.5-day work week, board goals, audit approval and Higher Learning Commission non-academic assessment items.
New business items included discussion of the reserve unencumbered fund balance policy, revisions to the EMT program, and suspension of the Harley-Davidson program and potential sale of the Harley-Davidson building. The board approved a new audit contract, athletic insurance renewal, and nursing courseware.
The board also approved the City of Fort Scott鈥檚 alcohol exemption request for the Independence Day celebration on June 27.
A public forum was held during the meeting. Public comments were limited to three minutes, and requests to speak were required to be submitted by noon the day of the meeting.
The agenda also included an executive session on personnel items.
